Seasonal Allergy and Allergy Induced Diseases

Ching-Yao Shi, Dipl. OM; Lic Acu                  03/28/2007

Each year around the first week of May, Jane gets sneezing, bilateral sinus pain and pressure, a clear runny and stuffy nose; red itchy eyes with headaches. Each year around the same time, Mary gets joints pain on her wrist, knees and neck.  The neck pain is so severe that she can barely move her head when she drives. John’s seasonal symptoms are bloating, gassy, loss of appetite, sluggish, fatigue, puffy eye lips, and he feels like he gained 5 lb in a week.

They are all suffering from seasonal allergies! Even though none of them is aware of it except Jane. Here is what happens, according to Dr. Devi Nambdripad, the founder of NAET ( Nambdripad Allergy Elimination Treatment). The energy system and brain identify a particular substance as potentially harmful to the body, for instance, pollen, grass, pesticides and even everyday food. Your energy pathway freeze up defending against this allergen. This in turn blocks your energy meridians, and if the condition never changes, the overall function of your body will be interrupted. With the contacting of the allergens such as pollen and grass, the brain begins to block the energy channels to prevent the entrance of the adverse energy into the body; this is the so called allergy. In Jane’s case pollen blocked her Lung meridian, and generated the typical seasonal allergy symptoms. In Mary’s case, pollen blocked her Kidney and bladder meridians causing joint pain and muscle acheness, and in John’s case, pollen blocked his stomach and spleen meridians, he becomes a sufferer of G.I symptoms.

How do we identify if your problem is caused by seasonal allergy? Generally speaking, there is hardly any human disease or symptoms that does not have an allergic factor involved. However if we focus on the typical seasonal allergy induced diseases, the easiest way to know is to check back over years to see if your similar problems keep  coming back in the same season, if so and if your symptom is not all year round, it is most likely caused by seasonal allergies,  even it may not be runny nose or sneezing.

NAET is our solution to treat the seasonal problems. The allergy elimination treatment begins with muscle testing to determine if the patient is allergic to a particular substance, e.g. pollen or milk, and which meridian it blocks. Then, we activate the organ excess points along the spine while the patient is still holding the allergen. This is to send a signal up to the brain to re-program. The last step is acupuncture. This is to have the body making changes neurologically and chemically, e.g. to get the enzymes turned on that hasn’t been present in the past.

At the end of this article I would like to mention that seasonal allergy may or may not just be caused by the high concentration of pollen. In Chinese medicine, seasonal change makes our body change, winter is time of Yin and spring is Yang, we need a strong immune system to make a transition from time to time. As spring brings things to growth, it may induce the underlying problems appear. In this way we bring the body focus on the whole immune system to fight a particular allergen.
